This article is to diagnose a healthy motor system and only applies if you have our Perfect Stitch regulating electronics (your machine may have come with them, but many do not).
The following tests assume that you have no communication errors and everything is powered on and communicating. If not, check out Communication/Power Issues.

Check sensors in the diagnostic screen.
| If the encoder or halls are not reading correctly, then the motor is likely bad and a new motor can be purchased for replacement. It is possible there is something wrong with the regulating electronics (PCB mounted on the back of your machine), which should be sent in if that is the case. |
Make sure the magnet passes right next to the index sensor (within 1/8 of an inch). | If the index sensor is in good position and the motor encoder is counting, but the index count is not changing, there is likely something wrong with the regulating electronics (PCB mounted on the back of your machine), this indicates you should send in your unit It is also possible that the index sensor is bad (this does happen with optical sensors more that don't use a magnet) and you can purchase a replacement index sensor. |
Check to see if your motor fuse has blown. | If it is blown, replace the fuse with a 5 Amp fuse of the same size. |
Check to make sure all the cables are plugged in correctly. | Plug them in correctly. |
How to Send in My Product for Repair
If all those tests pass and are behaving normally, you can positively say your motor system is working as intended.
If your machine is still having problems, then we recommend doing more field tests to identify what to do to get your machine working as soon as possible.
