Check belts

Ensure that your belts are attached properly and have adequate tension. If the belts are on backwards, then the machine could not know where to go. Make sure that the teeth on the x-belt are facing up and run over the pulleys as shown, and as the machine moves forward  toward you, that the pulley on the top of the motor box rotates counter-clockwise.

Reset communication

If the issue occurs mid-stitching, it is likely an issue due to a communication error.

  1. Follow the steps to reset communications.
  2. Make sure that the power cord is not being tugged out by any bars on the frame.
  3. The micro USB going into the top of the tablet could be coming loose.
    1. If desired, you can try to tape or zip-tie the micro USB so that it cannot come loose
    2. or send it into Quilt EZ for repair.
  4. Try to plug into a different power source.

Test the motors

While most commonly attributed to communications errors, the error 1023 can be related to a motor failure. There are two tests that can be run to check the motors.

Lock the motors:

  1. Select the Home Icon at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select both padlock icons with the arrows going up and down; and left and right.
  3. Try to move the machine. If you can it suggests a motor failure that will likely need to be sent in for repair.

Run the Diagnostics

  1. Select settings from the menu on the left.
  2. Select the Test tab.
  3. Place the machine in the center of the frame.
  4. Select Test Y. The machine should move diagonal toward you.
  5. Select Test X. The machine should move diagonal away.

If both of these tests fail a factory restore may resolve the issue. Note that running a factory restore will reset settings for the Robotics and will not affect anything but settings on the tablet. If you have custom settings such as a custom machine type they will need to be reset after running the factory restore.  Be sure to go to Home > Settings > Machine > Machine Type to set that to the correct machine type after resetting to defaults.

  1. Select settings from the menu on the left.
  2. Select the Updates tab.
  3. Select Factory Defaults.
  4. Select the green check mark to accept.
  5. Reset any custom settings.
  6. Run tests again.
